Meet Ken Bon : A Mother-Daughter Partnership Rooted in Guji
Share
In the coffee-growing communities of Ethiopia’s Guji region, coffee is more than a crop—it is part of the fabric of family and community life.
Ken Bon Trading, a family-owned Ethiopian coffee exporter based in Shekiso, was built around that idea. Led by mother-and-daughter team Aisha and Danya, Ken Bon works closely with smallholder coffee producers across Guji and other renowned Ethiopian growing regions.

Rather than simply buying and exporting coffee, the team works alongside farmers, providing access to processing infrastructure and sharing knowledge around quality control and sustainable farming practices. Their approach helps producers turn carefully harvested cherries into coffees that retain the distinctive character of their region.
Ken Bon's coffees are naturally processed and sun-dried, with cherries hand-picked at peak ripeness and carefully sorted. This attention to detail helps produce the clean, vibrant and fruit-forward cups that Ethiopian coffees are celebrated for.
But their work extends beyond the coffee itself. Ken Bon has supported local schools and helped fund a clean-water well in Huraga, Guji—investments that reflect their belief that a thriving coffee industry begins with thriving communities.

For Aisha and Danya, sourcing coffee is ultimately about relationships: with farmers, with the land and with the communities that have cultivated coffee for generations.
Every coffee has a story. This one begins with the farmers of Guji and the people at Ken Bon who help bring their work to the world.
