Amrit's Tanka & Saga Cappuccino

Amrit's Tanka & Saga Cappuccino

Amrit pulls double duty with two of our most beloved coffees — Tanka and Saga — both dialled in on the Breville Bambino for a cappuccino that's precise, repeatable, and deeply satisfying. The secret is in the pre-infusion: a 7-second hold before full pressure that sets up a beautifully balanced shot every time.

The Setup

  • Coffees: Tanka & Saga (same method for both)
  • Machine: Breville Bambino Espresso Machine
  • Grinder: Breville Dose Control Pro BCG600SI | Setting: 10
  • Dose: 17g in → 34g out (stop shot at 32g; residual drips bring it to 34g)
  • Brew time: 25–30 seconds

Amrit's Method

  • Preheat by running a blank shot with the empty portafilter. Dry the basket.
  • Weigh 17g of beans using a digital scale.
  • Set the grinder to 10. Grind directly in the portafilter. Tap & tamp firmly.
  • Place your cup on the scale, tare it, and get a timer ready.
  • Hold the 2-Cup button and start the timer together. Hold for 7 seconds (pre-infusion phase), then release for full pressure extraction.
  • Stop the shot at 32g — residual drips will bring the total to 34g.
  • Steam your milk and pour for a cappuccino, or enjoy straight as espresso.

"The 7-second pre-infusion makes all the difference — it wets the puck evenly before full pressure kicks in, giving you a more balanced, consistent extraction every time."
