A Colombian medium roast coffee with notes of caramel, almond, and red fruit sweetness, roasted fresh in Canada.
Sonnet, our beloved Colombian coffee, now sourced through the impactful Black Condor Project in Tolima.
Grown at elevations of 1,650–1,950 meters in the highlands of Planadas and Gaitania, this coffee is a blend of Caturra and Castillo varieties. The region’s rich volcanic soils and cloud forest microclimates allow the coffee to develop a layered and balanced profile—bringing together nutty warmth, caramel sweetness, and a gentle red fruit brightness in every cup. It’s a versatile brew, equally at home as an espresso or daily drip.
The Black Condor Project was established to support coffee-growing communities in Tolima, a region historically affected by conflict. Working alongside local producers, the project provides access to processing infrastructure, quality training, and direct market opportunities. Today, it brings together over 120 producers, including members of the Nasa We’sx Indigenous community, fostering both economic stability and long-term sustainability.
Through ongoing education in fermentation, drying, and cupping, farmers are empowered to continuously improve quality—transforming coffee into a meaningful tool for community development and peacebuilding.
At Poets & Prose, we are proud to source coffees that reflect both craftsmanship and purpose. With Sonnet, you experience a cup that is not only balanced and expressive, but rooted in a story of collaboration, resilience, and progress.
